Programme Note

This piece has a range of moods, colours, rhythmic drive and improvisatory passages. The movements are:

I. Lauds - Dawn, maybe even a dawn chorus.

II. Hubbub - Daytime to-and-fro, urban harmony and dissonance.

III. Nocturne - pensive, even moody. Dark shapes loom at the water’s edge.
